Scenic Train Ride For Father's Day

We recently took a ride on the Cape Cod Central Railroad, taking advantage of a "Dads Ride Free" special on Fathers Day.

We departed from Hyannis Station.

All aboard! My son stands in line to get on the train.

The train soon headed out of the yard, passing old train cars and locomotives.

The trip took us through the towns of Barnstable, Sandwich, and Bourne. We passed salt marshes.

And cranberry bogs.

Until finally we rode alongside the Cape Cod Canal and under the Sagamore and Bourne Bridges.

This was a great treat for Fathers Day, and a wonderful way to see the scenery from a different point of view than you get on the roads.

Opening Night

It's been a while since I've given this blog much attention, but with the school year finally done (Graduation begins in about an hour, and then I just need to turn in my advisor comments on Monday), I'm hoping to get back to posting on a regular basis.

Last night is what I will consider the first of my summer adventures with the Kiddo. It was opening night for the Cape Cod Baseball League.

I had to work a school function until about 7 PM, so we went out to one of the two night games and stayed out past Kiddo's bedtime as a beginning of summer treat.

We drove out to Orleans and saw the Orleans Firebirds take on the Harwich Mariners.

The Firebirds ended up winning this one 2-0.

Cape Cod Baseball League features many of the top college players in the USA. Last year over 200 active MLB players were Cape League alumni.

The Kiddo had a great time watching the game and munching popcorn.

The summer has arrived! Lots more adventures to come!

Putting Words Together

Good news: This morning I woke to hear the Kiddo in his crib speak his longest and most complex sentence ever!

Bad news: The sentence was...

"BIG cat poop, right down there!"

Kiddo Has Favorites!

I haven't had much time to post to this blog lately. Hopefully it will be back in full swing in the summer.

In the meantime, the Kiddo has opinions now! And favorites! Here are some (at the moment, of course):

Favorite Food: "Mac Cheese!" (Macaroni & Cheese; he asks for it every time there's even a hint that we're taking him to a restaurant).

Beverage of Choice: "App Juice!" (Apple juice, a request that typically follows close on the heels of the request for "mac cheese").

Favorite Character: Thomas the Tank Engine.

Favorite Song: "Boo Time" by Moxy Fruvous. Really! He requests this every time we get in the car now!

Favorite Cat: Riley. Okay, this is probably because she's the only one who doesn't run away from him at first sight.

That's it for now. Hopefully will post some pictures sometime soon!

Pop!

Kiddo's favorite word these days is "Pop!".

On the way home, from errands tonight, he kept yelling "Pop!" from the back seat.

So I started responding with things that follow "Pop!" Here's what I came up with:

-music

-sicle

-culture

-Snap and Crackle,

-corn

-rocks

-py Z. Brite

-pas and Mommas

-a-matic bubble

Another popular car game today was Kiddo screams at the top of his lungs and I respond with "Eep!". Kiddo then laughs like this is the funniest thing in the history of the universe.

Which it may be.

Kiddo's First Convention Badge

This is actually not his first convention, but Arisia 2011 was the first con in which he was actually officially registered as a participant.

Geeky Dad is so proud!
